    Value For Money

"I purchased this garage door due to the value for money it seemed and on that front, it was pretty good value for money, it is well constructed and pretty sturdy, however, I have given it an overall rating of fair due to the instructions being written in anything but plain English and the next day delivery taking 6 weeks. Once the garage door eventually turned up and I had worked out what the instructions were trying to tell me to do, I could get the door fitted, however working the instructions out took almost as long as the actual fitting of the door, plus there were about 50 nuts, bolts and screws too many, making me wonder if I had actually used enough. The other aspect that really let this down was the tensioning of the spring mechanism, it was completely untensioned, so once I had worked out how to fit the door, it just would not stay up. I eventually resorted to looking at previous reviews of this door and one of them also mentions this being an issue with their door also. I managed to retension the spring to the correct amount and the door opens and closes like a dream now. However, this is not the easiest activity to do and took me almost an hour to get it tensioned correctly so the door would not fall down every time it was opened. So would I recommend this product, yes I probably would, but only to someone who has a lot of patience, has English as their first language, has all the required tools and is willing to retension the spring if necessary - allen key bit in a cordless drill and a spanner was all that was needed, but it was a real pain, and had I not tightened the allen key bolts correctly, could have all gone horribly wrong very quickly."

    Value For Money

Pros:  good quality low maintenance, low maintenance
    Cons:  lamentable instructions

"A good quality product and good value for money but instructions poor. Efficient ordering and delivery. I would have liked a simple description of how the door operated and a clear illustration of it. The instructions were poorly copied, pages upside-down and in two different bags. I managed to put the door up single handed but it is very fiddly. Ensure that the inside of the lintel is in line with the side frame or the cables will snag. Advice on tensioning the spring would be useful - but there are good web sites which show this in detail. Check actual dimensions of the door as it includes a steel overlapping surround designed to fit inside the frame, but the door itself is narrower than 7ft x 7ft."

    Value For Money

Pros:  looks nice for the money
Cons:  nice for the money for a reason

"This door looks good value for the money but due to the poor instructions and build quality is tricky to install well. The locking system (cables) is a bit cheap and nasty. This is the fourth wickes door that i have installed over the last ten years and was the worst one yet. Buyers be where."

    Value For Money

Pros:  price quality delivery and ease of fitment.
Cons:  door size not as shown-7' x 7'

"After being nagged for years about "those horrible brown doors" I came across this one at a local branch. I was impressed with its build quality and price. I was even more impressed with the delivery, ordered Friday afternoon delivered 8.20 Monday morning. The instructions were not very clear but logic overcame that obstacle, I could have done with a general diagram and then found it in with the handle and fitting kit, not with the door fitting instructions! To heavy for a one man (and his wife) initial installation but once the door was secured its a one man job. I measured my internal frame and it was spot on 7' x 7' opening but the door was too small as it measured 6' 10 3/4'' (210.5) square. This caused me a bit of panic but a 20mm insert on one post cure that (I didn't have 2 x 10mm bits). I am well please, easy to fit good price and best of all no nagging any more!"
