"I've only had a few hours with this mitre saw so sadly this isn't going to be a full product review. But first impressions, this is a very good quality saw. Out of the box there isn't a great deal to do, a rear bolt needs to be removed and replaced with a locking handle, and there's a small metal frame to bolt on the back so you can wind the power lead on to for storage. The main pivoting bolt was a little loose, don't over tighten this or else the saw will not pivot. You'll need to spend a few minutes wiping the saw down as everything including the supplied spanner is covered in a thin layer of grease, which I think is always a good sign. At least your saw will be in tip top condition up on opening. All the accessories were present and correct, although if I'm to be honest, I doubt I would use any of them. I connect all my power tools to a vacuum cleaner, the less dust you breath in the better. The side supports are a nice addition as too is the material stop, but in practice these are only useful for small pieces of timber. The supplied clamp does it's job admirably, but as with all clamps, they are slow to use if you have a lot of timber to cut to size. There is a plastic triangular rule for checking the blade is square, and it showed the blade was square to the fence, but after a couple of test cuts, an engineers square showed the blade not to be square. The first test cuts. As mentioned I made a couple of cuts at 90 and 45 degrees, and both were very slightly out. If it's out at 90, it'll be out at 45. I used white pine during the test cuts which I had put through a planer/thicknesser, so I knew the timber was square and true. To adjust, make sure the saw isn't plugged in, and lock the saw down with the securing pin at the back. Now undo the four bolts holding the fence, and place an engineers square so it's against the fence and the blade. You'll have to turn the blade so the square is flush against the body of the blade and not catching on any of the teeth. Holding the fence and square firmly, if it helps, you can always tighten one of the end fence bolts up a little so the fence pivots, now move the fence so the square is nice and flush against the saw. Once your happy, tighten the other end bolt and then the two centre ones. You should now have perfect 90 degree cuts as I did including a few test cuts at 45. This is a beautiful little saw once set up, it's well made, the bed turns and locks just as it should do, and it isn't that noisy when in use. It's light enough to move around but with enough weight to remain in place. The supplied blade was much better than I had expected, with a lovely clean cut. I'll be making my own extended material support and stops, and for thinner wood, ie, not 3" x 2", I'll probably get away with using a zero tolerance fence. I have no doubt this saw will last for many years and it will be a pleasure to use. Hope this helps :-)"

"I have used this saw in a professional capacity for many years now, and it still serves me well. Accuracy is very good and the robustness has been above expectations. what has gone wrong? Well after a few years the bag connection will likely become brittle and snap, and on mine the base near the pivot bearing has cracked, but still intact and has not affected the accuracy of the cut, this is probably the abuse it entails being thrown in the van? The extraction of dust is not the best on the market although a vacuum attached does help, so keep an eye on the dust collecting under the adjustable angle stops (lock bolts). When this builds up your saw will not sit home when using the side mitre or compounding, and like wise when moved back to the upright position it wil not sit true, hence your next cut will be inaccurate. The length of cross cut is limited for my needs but perfect for any framing or general joinery, actually covers a good 85% of my needs. Its also very easy to move from workshop to site with a good balanced carrying handle. Works well on a saw tressle. "Are there better on the market"? Well its horses for courses, ask yourself what you need it to do? (no saw covers all needs!) this one will cover most needs with a robust quality and good value. ps. dont buy a yellow saw ( not as good value)"

    Pros:  cheap
    Cons:  incomplete product

"This product is supplied WITHOUT any of the necessary accessories, eg Bevel adjustment knob, dust bag, work clamp, extension bars, setting square. These are part of the product that other suppliers include as standard, as shown in the instructions. Wickes were unable to supply the parts, consequently returned for refund and bought elsewhere."

"A good saw in its own right but unbeatable at the price. Could have bought it £10 cheaper but from an unknown name, but went with Wickes in case of future problems"
