  • Good value, instructions wrong

    Pros:  good value
Cons:  instructions need to be looked at and corrected.

"Great little light, good value, easy to install and covers quite well. Unfortunately, although the instructions are clear, they mix up "Clockwise" and "Anti-clockwise" everywhere in the Operation and Testing section, for how to set the unit up. The "Lux" control, which has a "sun" symbol at one end of its scale and a "moon" at the other, sets the ambient light level at which the unit turns on, but the settings are opposite to the instructions. Fully anti-clockwise, as given in the instructions, is towards the "Moon" symbol, which reduces the light level at which it turns on, and vice versa. Similarly, in the walk test it states to turn the timer control fully clockwise, which makes the unit turn on for 5-15 secs. This is wrong. Fully clockwise will set the time to maximum (about 5 min). If you set it fully anti-clockwise for the walk test, all is fine. There is also a 3rd control "Sens", that is not mentioned anywhere in the instructions!"

"I was desperate to replace a failed PIR light, these were in stock so bought two of these. This product is 230v,max 120w.The lamp supplied is 230v 120W,which when used in GB will take 144 w. and will have a very short life. So you have to buy a new lamp for 240-250V. Its easy to wire, but the instructions are poor and difficult to set up. There are better products that include a lamp at the price you pay for this."

  • Looks like a bargain

Pros:  price - good instruction leaflet, bright enough for average size garden., quite easy to wire up.
Cons:  check box contents in store!

"My 20 year old 500w light started playing up (crazy sensor). House extension means smaller garden area so 120w light now good enough. Bought this on 9th Nov 2012. Bracket lighter than my old one, but light is about half the size/weight so it's perfectly adequate. Had junction box on wall where cable emerges from kitchen, so just needed to wire 6" of cable to lamp. Existing holes too wide apart, so re-used one and drilled new one to correct width. Bit fiddly fitting lamp to bracket after bracket fixed to wall. Securing screws and nuts a bit small, one nut was captive to the unit so this was easy, screw just screwed in without having to worry about nut falling. But other nut came off when I took out the screw for fixing, this was the fiddly one, but only a minor hitch. Switched on at kitchen wall switch and light came on (broad daylight) but soon went off and never came on again in daylight. Set both controls to midway. Went out into garden to test when it was almost dark and light came on for two and half minutes. The max it will do is 5 minutes so the control midway seems accurate. Has come on a couple of times after dark since, could be cats (loads round here) or 10ft high bushes swaying at foot of garden. At only 120 watts not a big waste of power. Continuous operation is achieved by flicking wall switch off and on quickly. One warning - check box contents before leaving store. When I got home I found there was no bulb included. Fortunately the store is only 3 minutes away. Assistant said they do get nicked from time to time. I found one with plastic security bands around the box which was obviously tamper proof."

  • Good little light

Pros:  good quality, good light coverage for 120w, easy to install
    Cons:  sensor a bit weak

"I bought this unit to replace my existing one to light up the front drive. The only issue I have is that the existing position is about 3.5m high where I installed the new one. This seams to make the sensor struggle as it only comes on right in the line of the sensor. If your putting it up in a new position I recommend reading the instructions on the height (2.5m I think) as I would assume that this would allow the sensor to work better. Apart from that good unit especially for the price"
