    Pros:  cheap
Cons:  so cheap it's very expensive

"This review relates to the 18v version of this drill (WCD 18V) that I bought in Trowbridge just over a year ago. In that time it has had very light use, but today I wanted to take advantage of its hammer feature. The slightest bit of pressure and the drill wobbles as if the drill is bent - it isn't. Worse is the fact that there's absolutely no power behind it. I literally drilled two holes and it needs recharging... I was always told never to buy cheap tools as they'd turn out expensive in the end. How true that is. I bought a Wickes own brand model when I discovered the name of the manufacturer. Well known and established - and so common that most people have used their stuff at some time. I've never had an issue with them before. I note another reviewers comment that mains hammer drills are always better, and that is fair enough. However, they sell these things to us amateurs as hammer drills..."

"i purchased a 15.6v combi hammer drill just over a year ago along with an extra battery so i could carry on working whilst the other battery charges. happy with the 1 hour charge time. i only used this drill for basic diy, & in the time i have had this drill it has probably been used for no more than 20 hours. it has now packed up completely. batteries still charge ok but drill unit has obviously given up the ghost. it has in no way been mis-used or dropped & has not been used for really hard jobs, just normal houshold jobs. i have not taken it back to wickes as yet as i know they will say it is out of warranty, & i do not have my reciept for proof of purchase. i am now left with a useless drill that still looks brand new & two batteries & charger that will not fit any other drills. NOT VERY IMPRESSED !!!!"

    Pros:  wickes good about refund
Cons:  unable to penetrate brickwork, fragile

"As our puppy has a penchant for chewing through electric cables, I needed cordless drill to replace my 30 year old B&D cabled hammer drill. I had a bad start with this drill as the battery charger was faulty. Wickes exchanged it without any problems for another one. This one charged OK but was unable penetrate brickwork of our Victorian house, which my 30 year old corded electric drill has no trouble with. I used it to drill holes for 3" screws through some soft wood (used for palettes). The screw going into the chuck sheared off. It was at this point I realised this was not the drill for me and returned it. Wickes were very good about the refund."

"Ideal for DIY work does everything you need and good with a 1 hour charger. It is very capable as both drill and driver. Cant say much wrong about it for general use at the moment, has completed most of the tasks i have used it for with ease, Downside is the hamerdrill part is not that strong but would always recomend a mains drill for that. I have put up wooden frames plaster board and wall fixings, i have also drilled wood cement and used it heavily as a screwdriver. the battery still seems to last very well at the moment and i have owned it about 4 months with use every weekend. The quality is not the best you can buy but it is pretty good, it wouldn't suprise me for it to meet the same quality of more expensive well known brands. Would recomend on the basis of value for money and being very capable."
