23/10/2009

This week is Energy Saving Week, which could be the perfect inspiration for home improvement enthusiasts to put their DIY skills to good use by investing in energy efficiency.

According to the Daily Mail, with energy bills set to rise it has never been more important to find ways to improve the green credentials of property.

By investing in improved insulation, a better heating system and by taking the time to focus on energy efficiency, Britons could find themselves saving some £300 a year, the newspaper asserts.

It adds that lighting is an "easy place to start" as for a minimal cost old bulbs can be replaced with new low-energy ones, which could add up to a saving of £40 for each bulb.

Another green home improvement advised by the news resource is to consider upgrading to a condensing boiler.

The Energy Saving Trust advises that DIY jobs such as bleeding radiators can all add up to savings on energy bills.
