Laying a Laminate Wood Floor project

Hints and Tips:

  • Where possible, work from the corner farthest from the room's entry way.
  • If you are laying the flooring over a concrete subfloor, first lay damp-proofing membrane.
  • Loose lay the underlay boards, butting them closely together.
  • Fit the first row of laminate floorboards with spacers at the ends and along the wall.
  • Fit the next two rows, ensuring as you go that they are perfectly straight.
  • Floorboards need only be glued together if they are located in areas subject to frequent wetting, kitchens, outer doorways, etc.
  • Cover the expansion gap with a quadrant or similar moulding, or use skirting boards (minimum width 15mm).
  • Remember to purchase threshold and ramp strips for doorways and joins between surfaces.
