Many customers will want small jobs doing before they entertain at Christmas, such as plastering, lightbulbs, toilet seats and log burners. A few may even consider a bathroom, toilet or kitchen refresh (although stop short of a full refurbishment) so that their home looks its best for those visitors this festive season.
Patio and exterior doors
Demand for patio projects spikes in January and February. This is quite a large scale project, so customers want to get it done out of season so that they can enjoy their garden once the weather improves.
January kitchen/bathroom refresh
Having guests in the house over Christmas can sometimes expose its shortcomings and January is also a time for refreshing things in general, so customers may also be looking to do larger scale work on their home, the topmost projects being a new kitchen or bathroom. This doesn’t have to be expensive: we offer a wide range to suit all budgets.
Loft insulation, ladders and storage
This may be one of the few times of year when customers even go into their loft, but it's a given that they’ll be up there at least twice to take down and later put away their Christmas decorations. Installing a loft ladder and putting down boards to make storage simpler are a brilliant idea, but if you’re up there anyway, it makes sense to take a look at the insulation and see if it could do with improving. Insulating properly can save customers money from their heating bills and is also good for the planet.
Paint
The most common home improvement job at this time of year is redecorating rooms. We offer a wide range of paint colours and finishes from Dulux and Crown, as well as our extensive range of Wickes paint. It’s a good idea to visit your local store and to pick up a selection of colour cards and maybe even some sample pots to show your customers.
