What is turf?

Turf refers to a layer of grass and part of the soil underneath it that’s held together by the roots. In this state, it’s ready to be laid in gardens, sports fields and anywhere else that could benefit from greenery.

When is the best time to lay turf?

The best time to lay your turf is mid-Autumn or early Spring, but you can lay it at any time during the year except when frosty weather is forecasted.

When should you mow new turf?

Ideally, when the grass has grown to about 6-8cm tall, which is usually 2-3 weeks after it’s been laid.
