How to install overlap fence panels
If you’re taking on this DIY project, follow these steps to install your overlap fence panels:
- Plan and measure your fence line and mark it out using something like string line and pegs.
- Install fence posts by digging around 600mm deep (may need to be deeper for taller fences or windy areas) and then spacing your posts to match the panel width. You’ll need to set your fence posts in concrete, making sure they’re straight and aligned.
- Once you’re fence posts are set, we’d recommend adding gravel boards between the posts to help protect the panel from moisture and ground contact.
- Lift the panel into position between the posts, rest it on the gravel and check it’s level before fixing in place.
- Secure your panels by using galvanised screws or nails and fixing through the panel frame into the posts, securing both sides for stability.
