Properly installed variations (tethered), are fixed to your wall. Both conveniently charge your car, ready for your next journey. 

What is a tethered EV charger?

A tethered EV charger is fixed on or near your property. It may have a built-in charging cable (tethered) or one that plugs in and out for security purposes. This is the most convenient and easy-to-use option for home charging, allowing for a much faster charge. A charging cable that plugs into a standard mains socket will have an output of around 2.5k-3.0kW, but installed chargers offer 7kW, making them 2-3 times as fast.

How much is it to install an EV charger at home?

Charging cables are compatible with 13A mains sockets, so you won’t need to worry about the costs of installing an untethered EV charger. Tethered charging units, on the other hand, require proper installation, which can cost from £800 typically.
