FAQs
What colour splashback goes with a grey kitchen?
What kitchen splashback colour you opt for will depend on whether you want to make a statement with this feature or have it work seamlessly with your entire kitchen aesthetic. When it comes to a grey kitchen, a white marble or green shade will compliment the overall look.
Which splashback should I get for my kitchen?
When choosing the right splashback for your kitchen, you should consider which material best suits the usage and appearance that you’d like to go for. For instance, glass is very easy to clean and comes in various shades and designs. Stainless steel, on the other hand, is durable and resistant to stains. Therefore, selecting a splashback comes down to your preferences, budget and maintenance needs.
Do you need a splashback behind a kitchen sink?
While it's up to you, it is recommended that you install a splashback behind your kitchen sink to protect your walls from water splashes, grease and food stains which occur from your day-to-day kitchen tasks. It also makes cleaning much easier, a win-win.
Can you paint kitchen splashbacks?
Yes, depending on the material. Tiles, glass and other paintable surfaces are fine, if you use a suitable primer and paint. It’s also important you use heat-resistant paint if painting a splashback behind a hob.
Can you put a kitchen splashback over tiles?
Yes, it’s possible to install a splashback over tiling, as long as the tiles are in good condition, secure, clean, dry and mostly level.
How high should a kitchen splashback be?
How high your splashback is comes down to personal preference. As a general rule of thumb, splashbacks behind hobs are around 600mm high, whereas smaller variations can be up to 100-150mm tall.
How to clean kitchen splashbacks
How you clean your splashback depends on its material. However, in most cases, you can use warm, soapy water and a soft cloth to remove everyday dirt and grease. You should never use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, especially on glass or glossy surfaces. Always check the manufacturer's instructions before you begin cleaning.
