Painting a fence can seem like a daunting task, but with a spray gun like this, you can forget your paintbrush, work more efficiently and achieve great coverage. Kimberley Walsh will show us how it's done!

How to spray paint your fence

Prep your fence. You’ll want to clean it thoroughly so you’re not just spraying paint on top of a dirty fence.

TOP TIP: If there is mould or algae growing on your fence make sure to treat it first with an outdoor algae remover

Tape up any parts you don’t want painted such as metal fixings or plaques.

Fill the paint compartment with paint. You’ll want to dilute it slightly with water to make sure it sprays well and evenly.

Wear PPE. When working with spray paint, it’s a good idea to wear a mask and protective goggles.

NOTE: Choose a warm, dry day with low winds to get the best results.

Begin spraying! Hold the nozzle 15 to 20 centimetres away from the fence and spray in straight lines, up and down. Once you get to the top of the fence, you may want to hold up some card behind the top edge to stop the paint from going into your neighbour’s garden.

Wait for the first coat to dry and go over the fence with a second coat to get a consistent, solid finish.

Clean out the spray gun with soap and water to prevent blockages when not in use. And there you have it, a beautifully painted fence!
