Are wall lights old fashioned?

While a popular light for many decades, wall lights still remain a stylish and practical lighting option when homeowners need to save space. They’re also available in a number of modern finishes. 

How high should wall lights be?

As a general rule of thumb, wall lights should be installed between 5 and 5.5 feet (152-170cm) from the floor. 

How do you fit wall lights?

Fitting wall lights is quick and simple with the right tools and know-how. All you need to do is: 

1. Switch off the power to the circuit you’re working on at the fuse box. We recommend using a voltage tester to make sure the power is completely off.
2. Mount the light bracket to the junction box in the wall.
3. Connect the light’s wires to your house wiring, making sure you’re connecting black to black (hot), white to white (neutral) and green/bare copper to the ground wire. You should then use wire nuts to secure the connections.
4. Install your fixture by tucking the wires into the junction box with care and then screwing the light casing onto the bracket.
5. Turn back on the power and test your new light.
