How to cut a concrete gravel board?
As concrete is a strong material, it’s important to use the right tools and take care when cutting.
- Start by measuring the space and mark your cutting line clearly using a pencil or chalk. Always measure twice before cutting to avoid removing too much material.
- Use a suitable masonry saw designed for cutting concrete. These tools are made to handle the hardness of concrete and help create a cleaner cut. Avoid using standard saw blades, as they are not designed for this type of material.
- Before cutting, place the gravel board on a stable and flat surface and wear suitable safety equipment, including safety glasses, gloves, and a dust mask. Cut slowly and steadily along the marked line to reduce the risk of cracking or chipping.
- Once cut, smooth any rough edges with a suitable masonry tool if needed, then carefully position the gravel board into place.
How to install concrete gravel boards?
- Start by making sure your fence posts are securely installed, correctly spaced, and fully set. Measure the gap between the posts to ensure your gravel boards are the correct size and will fit neatly into position.
- Carefully slide the concrete gravel board into the grooves of the concrete fence posts, starting at one end and working across. If you’re fitting multiple boards, make sure each one is level and sits evenly against the next to create a strong, continuous base.
- Use a spirit level to check the gravel board is straight. If needed, adjust the position before the fence panels are installed. For larger or heavier boards, having an extra pair of hands can make positioning them safer and easier.
- Once the gravel boards are fitted securely, place your fence panels above them, ensuring everything is aligned and supported correctly.
