How do you clean a shower screen?
The best way to clean a shower screen is to apply a solution of vinegar and water, or a glass cleaner and wipe it down using a clean cloth. You should then rinse and dry the screen using a squeegee or a microfibre cloth to rid of any streaks and to prevent limescale.
How do you stop a shower screen from leaking at the hinges?
To stop your shower screen from leaking at its hinges, we recommend you check and tighten any loose fixings, replace worn hinge gaskets or seals, and apply a fresh bead of sanitary silicone between where the hinge meets the glass or wall. You should only take this last step if the manufacturer has directed you to.
How do you fit a shower screen?
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to fit a shower screen:
- Take measurements to ensure there’s enough room for the opening, and make sure the wall is perfectly straight.
- Mark where you’ll fix the screen onto the wall using the screen as guidance.
- Using a drill and a diamond-tipped drill bit for porcelain or stone, or a carbide-tipped drill bit for ceramic or glass, drill into the fixing points you marked beforehand. Make sure to use a slow sleep and never use the hammer setting.
- Fix the wall channel or brackets into place, making sure they’re properly secure.
- Insert the glass screen into the channel or hinges, before tightening all fixings.
- Finish by applying a bead of sanitary silicone to the external edges and leave to cure for the guided time before taking a shower.
