FAQs:
What are the different types of shower curtain materials?
There are three main types of shower curtain materials:
- Polyester/ fabric which is soft, durable, machine-washable, and offers a more aesthetic look for your bathroom.
- PEVA/EVA is an eco-friendly option. It is non-toxic vinyl that provides a soft, waterproof barrier that’s easy to wipe down.
- PVC shower curtains are more heavy duty and are also a highly waterproof plastic, though less flexible than PEVA.
How do you choose a shower curtain?
Follow these steps when choosing a shower curtain:
- Measure the space to ensure the curtain is wide and long enough to cover your shower or bath area.
- Pick a material that’s right for you, machine-washable fabric offers more fun styles, and PEVA options are low-maintenance.
How do you clean a shower curtain?
The maintenance of your shower curtains can depend on the material it’s made from.
Many polyester shower curtains can often go in the washing machine on a cool gentle cycle. Make sure to check the washing instructions beforehand.
For plastic curtains, scrub away soap scum using a soft sponge and warm soapy water or a spray of bathroom cleaner.
Fabric shower curtain vs plastic: which is best?
Fabric curtains look softer, last longer, and are machine washable, but they usually require a waterproof liner or regular washing to prevent mould.
Plastic curtains are budget-friendly, 100% waterproof, and easy to wipe clean, making them great for busy family bathrooms.
